Leather is a natural product and often has imperfections on the hide itself. 
There are seven main types of imperfections on a natural cowhide, namely:

1. insect bites or skin condition
2. scratch marks
3. stretch marks
4. small holes in the leather
5. peeling of the epidermal layer
6. brand marks (technically brandmarks are not natural, but most cowhides have brandmarks)
7. colour variation

Further to the natural marks on the leather, the back of the skins can show writing with black markers. On unlined products these texts/numbers might be visible
